LGBT Rights in Tetovo, North Macedonia: homosexuality, gay marriage, gay adoption, serving in the military, sexual orientation discrimination protection, changing legal gender, donating blood, age of consent, and more. The global pandemic caused by novel coronavirus Covid, is affecting every aspect of our lives, including our ability to go to work those who have one , interact with people, get and receive help and so on. Of particular relevance here is the lack of support from family and loved ones. Grassroots and community based organizations, across our region and around the world, are already making immense efforts to provide help and resources to those who mostly need it in our communities.

LGBT United Tetovo is a civil, non-profitable and multi-ethnic organization that includes members from different ethnic groups and religions. The goal of LGBT United Tetovo is to protect, promote and respect human rights, primarily those of LGBTI people, to provide equal access to health care and to provide other vital social and legal services, thus guaranteeing equality and inclusion of LGBTI people in all spheres of life by creating a supportive and tolerant atmosphere that includes diversity and freedom. LGBT United Tetovo was established on 9 May and since that is has acted and worked in Tetovo but also broader in Macedonia, with a special focus on the cities of Tetovo, Gostivar, Struga, Ohrid, Kichevo, Debar.

Within the project „Civil initiative for LGBT rights” implemented by the Coalition “Sexual and Health Rights of Marginalized Communities” in partnership with the organization LGBT United -Tetovo, the first LGBT activist base has been formed in Tetovo. Geographically and historically there is much more to North Macedonia if you veer off the tarred and hardened road, and you will only ever be rewarded for taking the bumpy side track. North Macedonia held its first Gay Pride march in , which was seen as a test of the country’s commitment to respecting minority rights in the conservative Balkan nation. This event is an important milestone for the North Macedonian LGBT community, as it provides a platform for public visibility, support, and celebrations of their identity. The Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia establishes a high standard of protection, respect and promotion of basic human rights, but none of the articles explicitly state the right to and the freedom of sexual orientation or gender identity. The same formulation is found in many other legal documents in North Macedonia. Same sex sexual acts are legal.
